European and UN Institutions
If you are looking for help in finding your way through the international policy maze, understanding how such policy and legislation affect your business and whom to talk to, Haywood Hain can use its detailed understanding of the political landscape in the UK and in international institutions to help you.
Having worked for five years for the European Union, Elizabeth Haywood knows the institutions inside out. Her linguistic skills in French, Spanish and Italian, gained from her work in Brussels and Madrid and her university studies are also invaluable for clients. She gained her doctorate from Swansea University on The French Socialists and the European Community 1981-86 following a year’s research in Paris at the prestigious Ecole des Sciences Politiques.
At the Welsh Development Agency, she set up a new department in 1990 to optimise Welsh involvement with the European Commission in particular, and was responsible for developing a new funding programme with the Commission and establishing the Agency’s right to apply for European Structural Fund money.
